dragand vs Yoink
Both apps give you a place at the edge of the screen to park files mid-drag. Yoink is the long-standing, highly configurable shelf with an iPhone and iPad companion and its own clipboard history. dragand is built around one idea: a held copy clears itself after 24 hours, so the shelf never turns into another junk drawer.

Where each fits
Different apps for different habits.
Where dragand fits better
- A shelf that cleans itself. Drop on Hold and dragand keeps a copy for 24 hours, then clears it. The things you only needed for a moment never pile up.
- You decide copy or move as you drop. Hold and Keep are two halves of the drop zone, labelled before you let go. No modifier keys to remember.
- Safety rails around clearing. Nothing clears mid-drag, in Quick Look, or in the hour after your Mac wakes. A deleted original is flagged with a Keep link.
Where Yoink is the better pick
- iPhone and iPad. Yoink has a companion iOS app, Handoff between devices and Continuity Camera. dragand is Mac only.
- Older Macs and more settings. Yoink runs on macOS 10.13 and later and lets you tune where and when the shelf appears in detail.
- Setapp. If you already pay for Setapp, Yoink is included at no extra cost.
Choose Yoink if…
You move files between your Mac and an iPhone or iPad, run an older macOS, or already use Setapp.
Choose dragand if…
You want a shelf that doesn't need tidying: temporary copies that clear themselves, kept files you can put back, and Undo for everything.
FAQ
dragand and Yoink: common questions
Can I use dragand and Yoink together?
You can, but both react when you drag a file towards the screen edge, so you'd likely want one shelf. dragand can sit on the left edge instead (Settings › General › Edge) if you keep Yoink on the right.
Does dragand sync with an iPhone like Yoink does?
No. dragand is Mac only, with no account and no cloud: your files and clipboard never leave your Mac.
Which one is cheaper?
Yoink is $8.99 once; dragand is $9.99 once after a free 3-day trial. Both are one-time purchases, not subscriptions.
